Welcome to the Nematode Checklist UK

This website is newly released and information is being added all the time.

Unlike many invertebrates that are visible to the naked eye and enjoy popularity with the general public, nematodes that live in the soil or in plants are frequently missed because of their microscopic size. Yet some nematodes are of economic importance, whilst others are useful as environmental indicators. Biosecurity concerns also demand that we are aware of the nematode fauna established in the UK.

We have compiled the UK Checklist of nematodes from our own records and from published data. If you have any comments or wish to contribute to this list, we would be pleased to hear from you. All contributions need to be verified by published data or accompanied by a personal note from the author, and will be acknowledged.
